Tanner Winterhof's Farm4Profit Media Wins Inaugural MACA Industry Impact Award

PR Newswire

The crop protection industry's Midwest association gave its first-ever impact award to an independent podcast company operating out of a converted Casey's General Store.

SLATER, Iowa, Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mid America CropLife Association has awarded its inaugural Industry Impact of the Year Award to Farm4Profit Media, the agricultural media company Tanner Winterhof co-founded and now leads as chief executive officer. MACA President Aaron Deardorff presented the award at the association's annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 10, 2026.

MACA Industry Impact Award

According to MACA, the award recognizes an individual or group with "demonstrated, sustained impact on advancing agriculture across the Midwest through leadership, advocacy, innovation, education, public policy, communications, or industry collaboration." The association's criteria also call for a recipient recognized as "a trusted and influential voice for agriculture."

Farm4Profit Media reaches more than 400,000 followers and has generated over 111 million social media impressions, 59 million YouTube views and more than 6 million podcast downloads, according to MACA's announcement. The Farm4Profit Podcast ranks among Spotify's Top 1% of video podcasts and has featured hundreds of producers, innovators and industry leaders across more than 700 episodes.

MACA's criteria ask for reach and for trust. Tanner Winterhof came to agricultural media from agricultural banking. He spent his first 15 years reading farm financial statements for a living, as a loan officer and later a commercial banker in central Iowa, before co-founding Farm4Profit in 2014 and launching the podcast in June 2019 alongside co-hosts Corey Hillebo and David Whitaker. That background set the show's subject matter: working capital, cost per acre, interest expense and succession planning, handled as business questions rather than production ones. The team records at Studio 205, a production facility built inside a former Casey's General Store in Slater, a town of about 1,400.

"A farmer might not pull out his balance sheet at the coffee shop, but he'll sit down and talk about what worked, what didn't and what it cost him. The fact that the traditional ag industry is recognizing those conversations with an impact award tells you just how powerful this medium has become," said Tanner Winterhof, co-founder and chief executive officer, Farm4Profit Media. "This award says something bigger than just recognizing a podcast. It shows that agriculture has changed how it shares knowledge. Farmers are willing to have real conversations about money, mistakes and what's actually working, and those conversations are helping other farms make better decisions."

Much of the company's 2026 output came from the road rather than the studio. Its winter tour covered the U.S. Custom Harvesters convention, the New York Corn & Soybean Growers annual meeting, CattleCon in Nashville, the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville and Commodity Classic in San Antonio, including an interview with the USDA undersecretary for farm production and conservation. The company has also used its audience for disaster response, raising $48,412 for Iowa and Nebraska tornado relief in 2024 and reorienting its coverage after the 2020 derecho that moved through central Iowa.

The Industry Impact of the Year Award is new this year, and Farm4Profit Media is its first recipient. MACA is a non-profit association of crop protection industry members across 13 Midwestern states, working on crop production research, health and safety, and public education.
