AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 31, 2026
AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas is welcoming a new wave of hotels, attractions and experiences, giving travelers even more reasons to explore the state.
"Texas offers an incredible variety of experiences across every region of the state," said Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell. "These developments build upon what travelers already love about Texas while creating fresh opportunities to discover our communities and hospitality."
Hotel Development
Among the most anticipated hospitality openings is 1 Hotel Austin, a sustainably focused retreat opening in September. In San Antonio, Morgan's Hotel will pair thoughtful design and technology with a highly trained staff to create an inclusive experience for travelers of all abilities. Canyon Ranch Texas will open Oct. 15 in Spicewood, bringing an all-inclusive wellness getaway to 600 acres overlooking Lake Travis.
Outdoor Experiences
Travelers can also experience Texas' natural beauty in new ways. Palo Pinto Mountains State Park, located 75 miles west of Fort Worth, opened in March as the newest state park, offering nearly 4,900 acres of hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing and stargazing. Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, near Fredericksburg, also debuted a rugged backcountry area as part of an expansion that more than doubled the park's size.
Culinary Accolades
Texas' culinary scene continues to earn recognition. In the 2025 MICHELIN Guide Texas, three restaurants received their first MICHELIN Stars: Mamani in Dallas and Isidore and Nicosi in San Antonio. The next edition arrives Oct. 8, when the complete 2026 selection, including Stars, Bib Gourmands and Recommended restaurants, will be announced digitally on guide.michelin.com.
Texas wines also reached a new milestone as four Hill Country wineries, Ab Astris Winery in Stonewall, Turtle Creek Vineyard in Kerrville, Adega Vinho in Johnson City and Spicewood Vineyards in Spicewood earned the state's first gold medals at the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards.
Family Travel
Families will find new reasons to play across the state, including Universal Kids Studio in Frisco, Universal's first park designed for families with children age 10 and under, Dig World in Grapevine, where visitors can operate real construction equipment and Cannon Beach Surf & Adventure Park in McKinney, which brings year-round surfing to North Texas. In Amarillo, Wonderland Amusement Park celebrates 75 years of multigenerational fun.
