Governor Brad Little Visits Tamarack Resort to Review Fire Response and Resort Growth

PR Newswire

TAMARACK, Idaho, Aug. 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Tamarack Resort today welcomed Idaho Governor Brad Little for an official visit, the first by a sitting Governor since 2006. The visit highlighted forest health initiatives on state endowment lands, an update on the Rock Fire burning on federal land adjacent to the resort, and long-term resort growth and expansion.

The morning began with a briefing on the Rock Fire and fire mitigation measures, including the innovative use of snowmaking systems to increase ambient humidity and wet ground cover. The Rock fire burned from federal land onto state land, consuming approximately 70 acres of endowment land leased by the resort from the Idaho Department of Lands. The resort's 2,100 acres of ski operations falls under a 49-year lease from the Idaho Department of Lands, which manages approximately 2.5 million acres of state endowment trust land.

Following the briefing, the Governor toured Tamarack's newly completed Village, rode the Tamarack Express to mid-mountain, and concluded with an overview of the Osprey Meadows golf course and Tamarack's 100 slip marina which is slated to begin construction next month.

"This was an important opportunity to showcase Tamarack's partnership with the State of Idaho," said Scott Turlington, President of Tamarack Resort. "We are grateful for the Governor's vision and leadership and his ability to drive collaboration with federal partners in ensuring the long-term vitality of Idaho's endowment lands and communities."
